wild white violet
delicately balanced on
a whisper of stem
an impossible thread
thin stalk supports the blossom
head slightly bent down
perhaps her own prayer
gratitude in this moment
for small sweet blessings
What small blessings have you witnessed this morning?

The poem and photo above are mine, but my blogging friend Nina has collaborated with photographer Brenda Washington to create a book of photography and poetry that they would very much like to see published. Very beautiful. I hope you are well today :) xJ
ReplyDeletein a sad funk today...sometimes I get depressed reading blogs...It feeds into the very thing I'm sad about. I feel others are so lucky with beautiful familys and that they have a joy of living that I seem to lack..oh woe is me...I know pathetic but there you have it. I'm breathing in the safe etc. but sometimes the blogs and the shiny happy people make me sadder.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and poem, Laura!

Violets are so pretty. And your poem is lovely, Laura. Too many small blessings to count this morning starting with the glorious sunrise.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Laura! The most beautiful small blessing this morning was a dove cooing outside the window where I was working. It is a sound of my childhood and immediately fills me with calm and joy! And now I am sending some of that your way!! Much love, Silke
ReplyDeleteYour poem is beautiful. The petals remind me of 2 cupped hands with an offering to the sky.
