Goodbye-Hello

As we say goodbye to 2010 and prepare to say hello to 2011, I am filled with gratitude for all that I have learned in the past year about kindness, patience, compassion, equanimity, trust, courage, love and friendship. It has been a year of living through illness, but more importantly a year of tremendous healing. Many of you have shared your stories with me, your struggles and your joys here on my blog (and yours) and through personal emails. I feel humbled and inspired by your  tender, beautiful souls. If I had to choose one word that carries me from 2010 into 2011 it would have to be "CONNECTED." I have connected with new friends in the past year through this blog, re-connected with old friends via facebook, and make daily connections with those of you in my life here at home.  Thank you everyone for your continued support and lovingkindness toward my family and me. I wish for you all a New Year rich with blessings, gentleness and all that you need to continue to shine your brilliance into the world.

Namaste and gentle steps,
Laura

  6. I have been spending the past week reflecting on this past year...all that I have learned and gained through the lessons..even the painful one's or the one's I fought against...:) I cannot help but be grateful for all of it...my word going into 2010 was confidence...I remember putting that word out to the universe as the year began...I can confidently say that I am much more confident today then I was then...still have not arrived...still have confidence to gain...I have been pondering on what my word for 2011 will be...what is it that I seek for this coming year? Today I've been laying it out there...trying to be quiet and just listen...I count myself blessed to have met you this year...I count you as one of the gifts that came to me in 2010...thank you for being that shining bright light to me...bless you and yours as 2011 comes...may you be exactly where you are suppose to be. Happy New year Laura...((((Laura)))

  7. Wow, your post reflects so well my own thoughts and experiences from the year that is coming to an end! And you put it so well!
My husband has been treated, successfully so far, for leukemia, and in living with and through this, gratitude has been a huge part of my life. Gratitude to his sister who donated stem cells and to our friends all over the world who have lifted us up through prayer, positive thoughts and energy. We have seen how powerfully the mind can influence the body, and how this has influenced the healing process.
I have also thought of "connected" as a key word. Like you, I have found new friends, and reconnected with old ones through facebook and blogging, and for this I am extremely grateful. Having been more or less "stuck" at the hospital and later at home, I have loved my computer "because my friends live in it" :-))
I have blogged about our journey since my husband was admitted to hospital in August, and through treatment and healing here:

if you should be at all interested, no obligation :-)

Your skywatch photos are so beautiful, I especially love the first one, where the dramatic grey fades into the gold.

I wish you too a new year full of love, blessing and healing!

    Hugs :-)

  30. I'm loving your website. You are a true inspiration and though your profile photo in the comments on other blogs has caught my eye, this is my first visit here and I'm happy I've walked through the door. First, I love your profile photo! And your skywatch photos are glorious. I love that you've chosen to contrast the goodbye/hello, and both are stunning with the light. And...your hello photo expresses wide open arms, which is beautiful. I'll be coming back on return visits. So happy to have met you. I hope your coming new year is healthful and full of light, love, and peace. Namaste.

Such bounty meeting so many wonderful new people with beautiful hearts. You! My version of this word might be "plugged in." Especially to the Sacred. Love you bunches! J

  36. Such a beautiful word to use to end one year and begin the next: connections.

I feel so blessed to have connected with you in 2010. It will make 2011 just that much richer for me.

Happy New Year and love to you.

  37. Truly one of the gifts of this year has been connecting with you, dear Laura, friend and teacher. Things often happen in my day that bring you to mind, such as this, from an email: "...whilst in the pursuit of a grand and wonderful dream, should you all of a sudden round a bend and see before you an enormous uncharted mountain with towering cliffs, jagged rocks, and seemingly impenetrable walls, just consider it a sign that your dream is considerably more worthwhile than you had previously imagined, and that you are exactly where you're supposed to be." Life may present towering cliffs and jagged rocks, but we are provided with what we need to receive and achieve. Happy blessings to you!

  41. Laura,

Thank you for reminding me again of the connectivity which exists among all of us beings and holds us in warm embrace, even when we are not aware. Your generosity and your ability to share your experiences of art, life, & illness combine to form the essence of what I understand healing to be.
Wishing you a new year of continued loving-kindness.
