A Small Stone:
I imagine the swirl and twirl of descent, gravity persuading this elegant gift that the road in front of my house would be the perfect place to rest. And so it was. Had it not fallen there, I would have missed its silken black beauty nearly hidden in the black and white pebbles, serendipitously accentuated by the coarseness of common asphalt. If I had not been low to the ground in my wheelchair that morning, camera in hand, eyes alert, if I had not figured out how to access my photos and upload them here, if…
this feather might have been forgotten.

ReplyDeletelovely little gift.
ReplyDeleteLaura, your reflection reminds me of the blue feather I spied in the driveway on my way to get the paper one morning. I often miss such details but this past week I was more aware of everything around me. I like to think I will continue to pay attention, and I will if I make it a priority. We gain so much if we stay awake to the world around us.
ReplyDeleteIt has been wonderful to "see" you getting "around" ~

Isn't is amazing how unexpected beauty delights? And isn't it amazing how more frequently we enjoy these delights just by being open to seeing them? It's a lovely feather and perfect in monochrome, Laura.

ReplyDeleteeveryone trying to get around me, hurrying to get somewhere, missing all the beautiful gifts around us. slowly i put one foot in front of the other, my head is often down watching how slow they move but i see things, things that everyone else misses and i smile.
often i stop to rest, i look around as though i am looking at something very specific, to camafloge why i have stopped. i smile because there is no need to hurry....i don't have to hurry, i am lucky!!!
I'm happy for your discovery of this lovely feather! Happy SSS to you and Shalom.

Laura, your body maybe closer to the ground as you see things from the perspective of your wheelchair, but your spirit is as close to the heavens as your wonderful imagination can fly. It is no accident that you found that perfect feather just sitting on the ground. It is a reminder that we are so much more than just our bodies...So much more.
ReplyDeleteLove you, dear heart.
Deb
