A River of Stones: July 9

The buzz of a lawn mower in the distance, the hum of the refrigerator and air conditioner; a brief blanket of silence while everyone is out of the house except for me. I collect my thoughts and release them, appreciating this pocket of peace soon to be filled with the whisk and bang of doors opening, footsteps quick and slow, joyful chatter, dishes clattering, life pulsing through my parents house.
