and the sky said to me

 Pay attention.

See the beauty of this day spread wide before you.

 Relax your heart.

Allow it to open.

Last evening was difficult, not for my daughter, but for me. I became extremely fatigued, which led to difficulty moving and talking for the rest of the evening and deep frustration. After a restless night of dreaming, I felt angry when I woke up. I did not want to start my day like this but that was how I felt. I sat up, placed my feet on the floor and found I was able to stand and walk, so I went to the window, something I do every morning, wherever I am. The sky grounds me. The first photo is what I saw at that moment. I exhaled with an audible sigh of relief. Then the second photo was taken as the sun rose. Awe and gratitude softened the anger. I woke my daughter with a smile. We had breakfast; I took her to the hospital and had a lovely conversation with the taxi driver. I practiced yoga for 15 minutes to stretch my tight limbs, sat in metta meditation for 20 minutes more, walked to the window and saw the next two photos.

Don’t you love it when you can see the changes within and find validation through the view of a window?

  1. Watching the sunrise is a wonderful thing, and it can raise your spirits to a great extent. Happened to me in the morning as well, and I finally went to sleep happy after that.

    Trust you're feeling better now :)

  5. You have touched upon something that ALL of us need to grab ahold of ... when I wake up grumpy, I tend to remain grumpy ... and pretty soon everyone around me is grumpy.

    Next time I will search out the sunrise; let the hearts find their way to my heart.

    Thank you, Laura. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you are feeling better. :=}

  14. and grace was given, for the moment. i'm so glad. may it continue to be so...

    "The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
    Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they display knowledge.
    There is no speech or language
    where their voice is not heard.
    Their voice goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the end of the world."

  26. Paying attention is the key, isn't it?

    A MAN WHO LOOKED UP AT THE SKY

    A man who looked up at the sky
    Saw ravens and clouds flying by.
    He had to look up,
    The sky filled his cup—
    He’s my kind of sky-watching guy!
