MS Awareness

I am currently cocooned in “Blog Silence.” (popping out for a visit here and there like that groundhog wondering about his shadow) Enjoy the photos until I return to writing upon spring’s arrival.

I am so sorry everyone, but I am still having difficulty with speech due to this latest MS exacerbation. There will be no live meditation tele-circles until further notice. To keep our connection going, The Healing Womb will be offered as pre-recorded podcasts from the Khanti Healing Circle I facilitated last year. I will post one every other Friday until my voice returns to one you can easily understand. Minucha B’Lev is now available as a text link for this week under Session 3. I hope the practices sustain you. May all beings be blessed with lovingkindness, compassion, joy, healing and peace.

Breath

How precious and miraculous it is
Mysterious and welcomed
When something as basic
As walking across a room
Requires concentrated effort
Not just to lift and move
One foot in front of the other
A daily dance I’m all too familiar with
But to feel the comfort of a complete

Holy
A sacred act to
Wholly expand lungs
Replenishing the body
With fresh oxygen
I rest on my bed
Watching chest rise
And softly relax
Magically lifting again
Mesmerized by this

I am currently in the hospital, having been admitted late last night. I was having difficulty breathing yesterday, when I wrote the poem above. My lungs look healthy and so far my heart is ok, but more tests today. It is all kind of mysterious, but medical things with me never seem to be straight forward. Good news...the hospital has wireless:-)

I'm pretty exhausted, so not likely to be commenting much on blogs, but know that I am thinking of  you my friends around the globe and that I greatly appreciate all of the prayers and kind words you offer so freely. The world is not perfect, but from my viewpoint I see that mostly people are good and live from compassionate hearts. It is an honor to share the same air you breathe!

  6. Sorry to learn you are back in hospital Laura. My thoughts are with you. So true what you say about breathing, something we take for granted forgetting that how we breath can have a profound effect on how we live.

May your breaths be long and slow, nourishing each cell of your body and soothing your mind and spirit.

  22. Each time you share a medical episode, I am more grateful for the simpe things you teach, and poetically at that.

    Breathe. Just breathe.

Sending gentle breath on the next wind your way.

  25. To think of your condition and what you're going through and then to see such a calm and spiritual piece amazes me, Laura. In addition to the linking breaths, the language knocks me out.

I hope you're recovered very soon. I've been in your position a few times and I'm not ashamed to admit I didn't handle it with such grace as you.

Thanks for sharing this with us. -- JH

  26. Liked your use of the word "breathe" as a unifying vertical element in this poem. The way you breathe is a spiritual practice in Eastern traditions, as you doubtless know. I hope you will find relief from your current difficulty. Look forward to reading much more from you.

  32. Grace and inspiration are the words for you, kiddo, as you continue to be grateful for the miracles, even as you struggle for your breath. Rest, and breathe gently...and may the doctors return you home soon, feeling stronger.
