As Evening Settles In

Late afternoon sun bows low across fields and marshy ponds as evening settles in, for the longest night of the year. Soon a sliver of moon will rise to ease the darkness. In other homes Christmas lights twinkle, in ours Chanukah candles and birthday candles too, for one who needs no external illumination. Happy Birthday to my beloved husband Gordon! Your inner light is brighter than the sun, the moon, and the 48 candles on your cake. Well if I could drive to the store to get you a cake and candles, you know that I would...chocolate peanut butter. We'll just pretend, less risk of setting off the smoke detector this way:-) I love you sweet man. I am full of gratitude, celebrating another year of life with you, my best friend. And tomorrow, just think, an MRI date. Ahhh yes, 23 years of marriage, WE still know how to have fun. Ok it looks a little different than it used to... Still, LIFE is good. Truly it is. How blessed we are to live in such a beautiful place. And of this I am absolutely certain my love, it was no coincidence that a soul as luminous as yours was breathed into your tiny baby body at the darkest time of the year. Blessings upon your Mother and Father z"l for the gift that you are in my life, our daughters, and the lives of everyone who knows you.

Hello friends, I am still accepting entries for the gratitude word quilt through Dec 28. I hope you will consider sending me a quick email to include your words of thanks for this year's gratitude word quilt.  All you have to do is close your eyes. Exhale. Inhale. Type out a brief message that expresses what you are grateful for in THIS moment and send it to me. The quilt will be posted on Dec. 31st.  Stop back and visit my blog to see all the words of gratitude from around the world “stitched” together. (So far 102 people have joined in:-)
Gentle steps,
