Mega Mobius Gratitude Word Quilt 2011

Hello friends! Below is a brief video expressing some things I am grateful for (of course there are many, many more... INCLUDING THIS NEW NEWS--my doctor just called this morning from home to tell me that my latest MRI shows no active inflammation and that some of the lesions in my brain have shrunk...YAY Gilenya and my dear Dr. Cabot who takes such excellent care of me!!! ...if you are a regular at my blog, you know that gratitude is something I write about frequently.) I like this new tradition of posting the quilt for an end of the year wrap up instead of on Thanksgiving Day, I hope you do too.

Ok, well, this was my first attempt using  iMovie. I had minimal tech support (from Gordon and Rosie...they were busy playing games on xbox kinect...and Belin is about as tech savvy as I am), so no extraordinary effects. Kind of a glorified slide show. It took a ridiculous amount of time to put it together, but mostly because I had no idea what I was doing. I am grateful that my Swiss cheese brain can still learn new things! Still I'm pleased to offer this little "movie" to you as an entry into the sacred space of gratitude we have created together as a worldwide community.

Lets begin then, shall we?
video

Click the four way arrows at the bottom left of gray bar of the movie application to enlarge to full screen…then escape after you’ve watched it to return to the blog post. It’s a little blurry…sorry about that. I must have loaded it in a different quality mode than the original. Ahhh, technology:-)

The quilt below is quite extensive, 132 individuals participated (I think two posted as couples-and it continued to grow past the time I created the video) which is wonderfully exciting. This is the biggest quilt yet! I must be honest, I started to upload each entry into the video, but it was getting overwhelming, mostly because I was learning the software as I was moving along. In the end I returned to the tried and true posting style of the past.

Reading this is an invitation to slow down, something that is challenging for many people, myself included at times. Consider "sipping" the words like a warm cup of tea, a soothing delight, tasting the depth of emotion as you meander through this labyrinth of text. Every word is an offering, a prayer, a grateful acknowledgement of the blessings in our lives. There are words of thanks from every continent with the exception of Antarctica represented, from people of all ages, many faith traditions and cultures. Some are contemplative, some lighthearted. All answer this very simple question:

What are you grateful for in THIS moment?

I am thankful for my family and the love I feel in my heart when I think of them. ~Karine I am grateful for the happy and beautiful years I have had with your father, and also for my beautiful family including all our in-law children.  May their lives be as blessed as ours have been. ~Mom I'm grateful for the sun streaming through my windows as I type this; grateful for my sister and niece visiting me this Thanksgiving; and grateful to have inspiring, loving, thoughtful people like you in my life! ~Karin  I’m grateful for good health, family and friends, my love for photography and having much reason to smile. ~Hilary Grateful for friends. Life is such a blessing, and the sharing of this blessing is a gift of the highest order. ~ Brooks i am grateful for the beauty that surrounds me every day, and the opportunity to share it across the world through this place called Blogland. and so grateful for the souls i have connected with here. ~Texwis Girl I am grateful for your deep thinking about what is important and then your sharing that expanded perspective- the big picture that helps clarify the muddle! And a shout out for my family and friendships.  ~Love Viv I am thankful for baking bread, for people coming together, bonded by the love they share, for children running around the house, barely able to contain their excitement about this special day. ~Coleen I’m grateful for Mother Earth, all her precious creatures and creation, and the galaxies surrounding her. ~Kaveri I take gratitude in other people's stories.  It gives me perspective of where I am in the map of life.  Having seen my own turn from cool aunt, into un-cool aunt, into them knowing that I'm theirs forever, turned my nieces and nephews into appreciative people who just knowingly now accept me on their own terms, and part of their ongoing loving fan club of a circle. ~Karen I’m thankful for my loving, funny, challenging daughters who make me see the world in new ways every day. I'm thankful for my sweet husband. I'm thankful for my body, which I have come to realize doesn't matter how it looks, but what it is capable of. ~Lizzi I am grateful for my family, my children, for my husband's successful recovery from leukemia, and for our delightful first grandchild. I am grateful for all the beauty I see through the blogs I read, and for the inspiration you are to me, and to so many others! Gratitude and negativity cannot co-exist in our minds; one will always exclude the other, and by focusing on gratitude, I find that my life quality increases. ~Inger I am grateful for so many wonderful bloggers and for so many good people. ~Sandy I'm grateful for being introduced to those musical angels, for they will feed my soul this morning ~Kel I am most grateful I took the time this gray morning to visit with you, kind and gentle, sweet Laura. Thank you always for your soothing images and Holy words. Namaste' dear-heart. ~Kathleen  I am thankful for both the good and the bad things. ~Irene I am thankful to tears for family and friends finding in my later years the best is yet to come thrilled to my finger tips to have a spark of you sparkling in me and on and on thank you for this thought to carry in my heart encouraging me again and again ~Sandi This year I am grateful for many intangible things, faith, spirituality, knowing that my attitude and reactions are within my control but also recognizing that there is much beyond my control, coping with that reality in a more peaceful way.  My heart is often filled with joy over the simplest of pleasures - through prayer and meditation I am feeling more like "I get it" than ever.  The blessings in our lives are overwhelming too, my children are beautiful and are very kind, loving people.  My husband amazes me with his talent and intuition, always striving to create a loving, peaceful environment at home. ~Janet I am grateful for family and friends and the communities that surround me. I derive my greatest support that way. ~Linda I am grateful for knowing that no matter how busy we get in our lives, and no matter how far we may seem sometimes, we know there are many old friends and loved ones out there who are sharing thoughts. I am even more thankful for those cherished times we can reunite and share our lives again ~Eve :) This year I really appreciate being with family. I am grateful to have my grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousin, sister, parents and husband all under one roof, enjoying each other. And I am thankful for the creation of this gratitude quilt to give all of us this opportunity to share our thanks. ~ Becky I am grateful for the women I have met through blogging and now call my friends. ~Sharon I am grateful that the people I share a home with know how to engage in two-way conversations. I am grateful that everyone I spent Thanksgiving with was of the same political persuasion. I am grateful for Scotch Whisky. I am grateful that once you hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up. My wife is grateful for her mental health despite... I am grateful that I can reach most places I get an itch. I'm grateful that I'm surrounded by people who love me and who receive my love in return. And I'm grateful for the lessons this year's grief is teaching, both the horrible and the glorious. ~Deb  I have so much to be grateful for.  My life is filled with the sounds of my daughter's voices and laughter and even though a couple of them are now a phone call away, I can partake in the joy anytime I feel the need to.  My husband.  God knew what He was doing when He brought us together.  Our furry and feathery family members, but most especially my constant companion, Becca.  She is my thirteen year old pup and we seem to be psychically connected in a very special way.  I am so incredibly grateful that she is no longer paralyzed in her rear legs and that she can walk again, on her own.  That was one of the past years greatest gifts.  I am grateful to know that Jack is no longer suffering and that he is flying freely whenever and where ever he wishes.  I am grateful that we were able to visit with him before he passed.  I am especially thankful for my blogging friends with whom I have become very connected to over the past few years. ~Debbie In this very moment, I am thankful for my life, the very breath that's breathing my body, breathing my heart, filling my lungs and oxygenating my brain and all the inner-workings in between.  I am thankful for my health and for Grace that carries, sustains and blesses me through any mis-takes.... and is the Cause of celebration! I am thankful for Laura who has made it her mission to make sure we acknowledge and share our gratitude and loving spirit.  Thank you Laura.  I am so very grateful for my family: my parents and the love they always gave every day, the childhood, and adulthood memories, my siblings… every family member. I am immensely grateful for my daughter. Her very being has shown me my capacity to love that I didn't know existed.  She is love. She is kind, giving, compassionate... a good friend to others, and devoted daughter...a good citizen of the planet and wonderful person who's beautiful inside and out. I am grateful for the blessing of abundant friends and friends who are family in many corners of the world... near and far; and that our love and bond makes us more near than far.  I am grateful for my home, my job, my soul and my soul's work and mission, and my relationship with my self and my soul.  I am grateful for all things I've ever uttered gratitude for, and for all those I've yet to utter.  I am thankful for the omniscience of Spirit who knows my heart, knows my needs, knows my prayers...and provides and loves, always.  Radiant, abundant blessings to every One, now and in all the days ahead.  ~Cheryl Right now I'm grateful to back blogging and catching up with friends. ~Kim I am thankful for my family and the love I feel in my heart when I look at my children and I discover how God was and is good to me...I´m thankful for my health is coming back after a stroke and after a bad moment that i lived two months ago...I simply love God. ~Grace I am thankful for the blessing of family, friends and community, for the dawn of each new day. ~Noreen I am so thankful for my life. So much. The great privilege of "knowing" Life, this gift of feeling, witnessing, expressing; a gift that is never fully used or tasted, understood; a gift that always teaches and expands; fills me and hollows me, too. There is a saying going around Tumblr. Love is the whole thing. We are only pieces.” by Rumi. Like one blade of the flames dancing in an eternal fire, I am so grateful to be part of this dance, this life, breath, hour. This ever unfolding, Infinite expression of Love. ~MansuetudE “Divine friendship," a new word to me but one oh, so welcome to my heart. It seems there may be friendships that are pre-ordained, as if soul friends find each other through time and space only to be united once again. I have been blessed to experience this often in recent years through the Internet, something I had thought impossible. Today, I know divine friendship to be a reality and I am ever grateful for the gift of sacred presence and loving support that such dear ones offer. May each of us open our heart to give and receive the blessing of holy friendship. ~Jan Grateful to be less thwarted by personal delays, grateful to be less frightened of my own shortcomings and fear. I'm glad that I notice the big and little things, judged as good or bad, all mixed in one package that is called my life. ~Myrna so much... but today I am grateful to the many people who give of their time, their service, traveling the world to help others. I am so uplifted by them and so grateful for what they do. ~Doreen I am so profoundly grateful for all the positive people in my life. Everyone has those days when you feel hopeless and lost but I know I will always have loving family and friends who help me realize that there is hope and I'm not too lost to be found. ~Katie I offer gratitude to: My parents for giving me life. My family for supporting the life choices I have and live. For the beautiful life line life has given me..my Children; Berk and Lanah. The love in my life....Abbie. Thank you for being you! That all my senses function each day. My ability to love ALL. Peace and Love to all, Being an eternal optimist...and the life long friendships I have with you and friends like you. And that I am and will always continue to be who I am. ~Mitchell Grateful for family, friends, love and peace. ~Ayala  I am grateful for a friend who invites me to share from a grateful heart. I was laid-off from my job at the end of May and it has been a blessing to be able to spend time doing the things that matter most in my life: be with my family and friends, draw, take classes, read, and most of all, be with me. ~Sheryl I’m grateful for my two granddaughters, Malia and Camden. Malia is my daughter’s daughter and Camden is my son’s daughter. They don’t get to see each other very often, but both of them spent this last Thanksgiving at my house. They were so excited that they’d be together that both of them talked about it for weeks as the time approached. Once they were together, we could see how much they adore each other, and their love filled the house with love. I can’t watch them together without smiling. I forget my cares and worries, and am just filled with gratitude that they’re in my life. In anticipation of Cam’s arrival, Malia, who is ten, choreographed a dance to teach to Cam, who is four. Malia spent a lot of time deciding on the steps and arm movements, wanting them to be challenging, but not more than Cam could handle. Malia’s judgment was spot-on. Cam learned the dance quickly and the two of them performed it over and over to music provided by Malia on her iPhone. Such joy for all of us! When they left after the holiday, the house felt so empty, but writing about it here brings the memories flooding back, so thank you, Laura, for giving me the opportunity to share this story of love from my life. ~Toni I am grateful for exactly where I am even with challenges, they are small compared to others. ~Mary I am grateful for winter.  Even though I'm cold, I love the solid starkness of twisted tree branches against the dusky sky. I hadn't realized I was grateful for them until I was driving home from work tonight, and was struck by the beauty.  It was also nice to be inside a warm car. ~Sandi I’m grateful for every minute spent with family and friends; for the opportunity to write and be creative; for a job doing what I love and working from home so I can roll out of bed and avoid the traffic; for Sharon and Elizabeth, and our dog Kayla who for some reason acts like a statue from Night at the Museum until Sharon the "real" owner" comes home; for my health and the health of all loved ones; for my parents and in-laws and the fact that they actually all like each other (not that there's anything wrong with either of them --- What's not to like?), plus for their never-ending support and their continued health; for the opportunity to teach 11 wonderful kids each Sunday (learning while I teach of course) and play guitar at our synagogue; for the gift of curiosity---may it never go away. And last, but not least, I'm grateful to you, Laura, for your bright spirit, your inspiration, and the opportunity you've provided for so many people to share what they're grateful for. ~Jerry I am grateful for my superpowers, my friend Micah and Panic At The Disco! ~Belin …so thankful for everything, it is hard to put in a few words. My life is gratitude and thanksgiving.~Ernestine My soul continues to be nourished by all the wildlife and nature I now enjoy on a daily basis and the ache in my heart that had plagued me for so many years has finally quietened, confirming that this is definitely where I belong.~Carolynn I’m seated at a picnic table in Kauai as I write these words and there are so many things just in front of my eyes to be grateful for that I hardly know where to start--but after I closed by eyes, exhaled, inhaled and exhaled again--and opened my eyes once again here's what came: I am grateful to be able to open my eyes each day and to see clearly what it is that lies before me, around me--and yes, even in behind me. I am grateful as well for the air that I breathe; that is ever present, that bathes me, circulates within me and that is exchanged with so many other beings. May we all continue to enjoy the blessings of sight and breath. ~Hannah Every morning I start the day with a prayer of thanksgiving; for life, for my friends, my husband, those who pray for me~ may they receive blessings in return tenfold. And the day is good, even when it could be *better*, you know? I have much to be thankful for, and remembering it all at first waking is a wonderful way to put things into perspective. ~Anne I am thankful for my lovely family who are brave and always courageous. I am thankful for my friends both new and old. I am thankful for our health, our home and our jobs. I am thankful for the blessed spirit that soars in our family. ~Beaux I am thankful for knowing you, being your cousin, knowing that you have the love and support of your family and so many others around the world who you give you strength. For my family, Sydelle and Lynelle, my health and theirs, so valuable, and under-appreciated, for the kindness and caring that come from all peoples, from smiles to a kind words. ~Bill I’m grateful over and over again for the ability to see the beauty around me. This is a gift, not something I’ve ‘developed’—so that makes it even more precious to me. ~Mary Ann At this moment I am grateful for so many fellow bloggers who share the beauty they see - their view through their eyes, often different from how I would have photographed it, thereby opening my eyes. ~EG WoW I am grateful for Jesus in my life, for without Him, I would have no hope. I am grateful for...my husband of 43 years, my 3 daughters, my 4 grandsons, and for family and friends. I am grateful for good health. I am grateful for my home of 30 years. I am grateful for my church family, my home away from home. I am grateful for the freedoms that we have in the United States of America. I am grateful also for those things that do not always turn out as we hoped that they would, for these things make us stronger. I am grateful for all blessings showered over me, and for each day given as a gift. I cherish my life and I am a grateful always  ~Mary Everyday I am grateful for the blessings of family, the beauty of creation, God's love and grace towards me thorough Jesus....and so much more. ~Karen I am grateful for the opportunity to play music because it lifts up the spirits of other people, and me too. ~Gordon  I am grateful for everything that makes me laugh! ~Rosewillow  I am grateful for the uncomfortable, potentially embittering, experiences that impel me forward.  Without them I would stay foot and settle for the restlessness that invariably gives way to disappointment and sorrow. ~Sandy I am constantly grateful for the unconditional love of God and His never-ending provisions in my life. An attitude of gratitude certainly makes a difference to one's daily encounters. ~Valerie I'm grateful for the rising and setting of the sun, for breaths frosted by winter and laughter, for the music in my life, for my children - always for my children. ~Fiona At this moment I am very thankful for friends and family and feeling connected with those who live far away.  Everything is a wonder and I am grateful to be alive. ~Diane (Gratitude) reminds me that I liked to go shopping when I could not afford… but now when I can afford I hate to shop. (Gratitude) reminds me that I have too much, I am blessed and where will it end... I am blessed, but I hate my self when I see people begging on the street. And I think of Christmas…people could show more love and care. In my world people only thinking about things! This is like pain for me…However, the greatest gift is God and what he has done in my life and he is always. ~Tania I am thankful for my life and my family.~Riet  RIGHT NOW I am grateful for my full belly after a meal lovingly prepared by my soulmate; a dry room sheltering me from a rainy night and enough of everything I need; a clear head holding treasured memories of days gone by and hopeful thoughts of days ahead; a heart free of hatred and intolerance. And I am most grateful for all the beautiful people in my life, past and present, near and far; to love deeply and to be deeply loved. ~Francisca I’m glad I’m still well. Everything else is a bonus. ~Stewart LIGHT-be it sunlight or moonlight, star light or love light in someone's eyes, lamp light or candle light, refracted or reflected light winter, spring, summer or autumn light. To me, it is all wonderful and all light. ~Arija I am beyond grateful for the good fortune of being a grandmother. It feels like the greatest honor and sacred trust to love these young beings who will need to be very confident and conscious to make their way through the labyrinth of the future of this fragile planet. ~ Sheila I am simply grateful that my family and I have been blessed with good health and food in our plates. ~Mildred In this exact moment, I am grateful for possibilities. ~Jan I am grateful for quiet evenings with my husband as the day winds down,  catching up with my daughter's news amidst much laughter,  early morning walks at dawn with my dogs, and a life filled with art which feeds my soul. ~Robyn I’m grateful for the eternal light in me…in you...that illuminates the world. ~Marcie I'd love to join your beautiful project, since every day there's so much to be grateful for. First of all, I'm so grateful for my wonderful parents, who still are with me, for my son and his partner, and my beloved husband. We are expecting our first grandson in ten days, so you can imagine how grateful I am for this precious gift. I couldn't cope without my friends whose presence in my life is more than appreciated. What else? The beauty of the nature, music, books and all those little things that make our lives fuller and more beautiful! As I said, there's so much to be grateful for! ~Joanna I am so incredibly grateful for the creative spirits I discovered in 2012. I am grateful for their support, their friendship, and their encouragement. I am grateful they believed in me more than I believed in myself, and most of all, I am grateful for having my faith in humankind restored as a result of these relationships built across the mystical ether. ~Natasha I am grateful for each day where I wake with knowledge that I can BREATHE!!  That’s a good start for any day. I am grateful for the cycle of seasons for this lets me know that I am enduring….I am seeing life as it is, and what wonderment, even in the sorrowful times. I am so grateful for the beauty, harshness, Silence, stillness and quietude of Winter, my favorite season, that allows, --no: demands I attend to hearth and home….to read and contemplate all about me, and to understand that life, even at my age, holds so much mystery and promise to come. Winter deepens me as a person.  It forces me to slow down and to look outside at the stark, nude, beginning again of the top of the Year…. To draw inward and to contemplate what is important, to acknowledge what isn’t. To shake off the trappings of modern life and draw near a woodstove and just…think.  To forage and cut wood and know that I heat myself by my labor. I see Nature without its foliage, bare, honest bones, and to see without doubt that Nature will draw me through life. I am grateful, openly, wildly, unendingly grateful for a Universe that endures and sustains life on Earth.   And if this is by the hand of God, I am grateful here, too. ~Jane I am grateful for my family (husband and three wonderful children). ~Laurie I am grateful for rebirth. Not just in the Spring but in each moment as life brings changes from an instant, one to another, and again. Birds fly in peace as my heart opens in gratitude, swelling with the earth, the sky, the shortest day as it goes by and begins to grow again in a new cycle, never the same twice. Grateful for Her transitions that show me how to begin again, to be reborn. I say Grace as my heart opens and we all join hands in Unity across time and space. Light shines through, stronger each day, honoring the night while also welcoming the light of reflection. ~Darla I am grateful for the sound of baby cooing, the white light of snow through window and the sun glinting garland on the tree. grateful for eggnog on my tongue and the lengthening of days and the promise of days to come, and the star shining bright. grateful for life in all of its mess and the prayer that it begs of me and the wonder of it all. ~Emily I am grateful for every day that my country, Israel, is not at war.~ Dina  I am grateful that this year my husband is home with us to celebrate Chanukah and my children are maturing (most of the time). ~Amy When I closed my eyes, this is what came to me.  Red paint.  I’m making a huge painting (30 x 40) of red amaryllis for my daughter as a Christmas gift, and it is consuming A LOT of red paint.  So, I’m grateful for red paint, and for having someone to use it for (or, for whom to use it- though that sounds kind of weird). ~Sharmon I am grateful for your gift of art and happiness and love of life for my brother in the joy you share as a family as we walk along the journey of life together. ~Bob and Ann What am I grateful for in this moment? Well... I am grateful for my family, for the best sister in the world, for MY LITTLE SUNSHINE and the most beautiful moments of my life that I spend with her, for the best gift – my camera and all photographs that I’ve done with it. I am also grateful that I was able to meet so positive and brave woman with angel voice as you are Laura ~Tatjana I am grateful that I am less thwarted by personal delays, grateful to be less frightened of my own shortcomings and fear. As I practice patience with myself, I learn patience with others. I notice bits of compassion beginning to re-emerge. I have been small for so long. I am grateful for the bliss filled moments of clarity, when I know I am loved and feeling myself expand into love. I am thankful indeed for the chance to say why I am thankful. ~Teri Amy, Jonah, Ariana, light, the ability to see, expanding love, occasional focus, hope, ability to feel, growing freedom, and connection.~ Mike I'm grateful for the true Light that gives light to every man. ~Dave After taking a deep breath, looking out of the window at the leafless tree embracing the sun, while a breeze stirred the neighbors oleander trees, I am grateful for Mother Natures beauty. Though my family and my art is very important, it is Mother Nature where I go to balance my world. It can be a walk to the backyard, listening to the birds visiting the feeders or watching a seeding struggling to succeed, gives me a different perspective. And when given the opportunity to visit my daughter at UCSC, I set a few hours aside, stopping off at my favorite spot along the beach, a little cove where Mother Earth presented me with my first two heart shaped stones during a rain storm. The experience had special meaning since I had just survived a heart attack and open-heart by-pass surgery two years earlier. Though this spot along the coast belongs to all and yet no one, it is my sacred retreat to mediate and give thanks to Mother Earth. ~Egmont I have so much gratitude this year it is difficult to place words to it.~ Lois I am so grateful that I live close enough to my sweet baby niece that I've been able to help care for her after her recent illness and help keep her out of day-care for a few weeks to strengthen her little immune system. Of course, my multitude of blessings are endless, so I have so much to be grateful for – still, Maggie is what comes instantly to mind. ~Jill I am grateful for the simple joys that the world provides us in the sunshine and cool breezes, and the lovely folks we meet in the blogging world. ~Mandy I'm grateful for loving and being loved. For my children, my love, my friends and our good health.  For having discovered a passion for photography and for sharing it. For the opportunity to live and learn, surrounding myself with Nature. ~Hilary I am grateful for friends and family: those who accept us despite our quirks and foibles, and love us anyway.~ Dimple I am so grateful that wherever I go, I find friends--wonderful, giving individuals who open their hearts and homes to me. I am grateful that even when years pass and I do not see someone, when we reunite, it is as though no time has elapsed at all. ~Jaclyn In my distant past I suddenly got very ill and was almost on my way to the next world. Since then, I'm grateful to God for giving me life, the ability to enjoy its pleasures, and the strength to fight its hardships. ~Duta I'm so grateful for God how gives me back my health, peace into my live and artistic. ~Merike I’m deeply grateful for my mother, who guided me through life to live by her example, and to have been loved and nurtured by her all of my life.   She was there every morning of my childhood with a warm breakfast. She cared for me when I was ill. She kept me clothed and fed and gave me allowance money even when I hadn't earned it.  She always put her children before herself, and lived a self-less life.  For that I am grateful. She's truly irreplaceable. ~Becky i am grateful in this moment for having this moment. i wish it were so every moment. i cycle through forgetting completely at my most dysfunctional. but when i'm doing well, i remember. ~Ed I am grateful for my family -- for the four thoughtful, beautiful, inspiring people I wake up to each day.~Jon I am thankful for now... this moment... the gift of breath that gives life to my being. I am grateful for connections... between you & me... between us and everyone & everything.... connections that spread out beyond that which we know. The known & the unknown... the potential... for experience, for healing, for growing.... how exciting... i'm so thankful! ~Suzi I closed my eyes, took a deep breath; opened my eyes and immediately thought:  In THIS moment, I am grateful to be pain-free. ~Sheila Besides my family and friends, music!!! ~David I am thankful for my husband's return to health, my children, my poetic friends who collaborated to bring an anthology into the world, and of course for the publication of my first novel, If I Could Be Like Jennifer Taylor. I am hoping this coming year will bring peace and stability to the world. ~Barbara I am grateful that the moon hides behind the grey cloud letting it draw scenes that remind me the immensity that surrounds us. I am grateful that the moon hides but never leaves reminding me that hard times come and go as joyful ones shine and grow. ~Dulce I am grateful for people who adopt cats…preferably one of our many stray kittens. ~MaryLou I’m grateful for my husband…I’m grateful for my wife. ~Fiona and Kaspa I am grateful for the dancing barefoot girl that I was - for the sun that still shines hot on my shoulders as I sit indoors and the cold wind of winter whips bare trees - I am grateful for the snap of white sails indelibly printed in clear watered embrace, gently, pulsing whenever, forever. ~Pearl I am grateful for my family. I have been blessed with three children and nine grandchildren. Love and joy shines through their eyes. Life is sweet. ~Wendy I'm grateful for what we call time: That we can look back and learn from our experiences, that we can enjoy the richness of our present in its infinite ways of showing up, and that when we are sincere, we always have enough for what we need going forward. ~Art  inhaling....exhaling...life...to be alive...over the past months this is the thought that has remained with me...for if i was not alive and here now i would not be able to absorb and relish in each and every minute that passes before me...to see life budding and blooming when completely unexpected...seeing life grow...to be surrounded by unconditional love near and far...connecting in both spoken and unspoken ways...feeling content with where i am...this is what i am forever grateful for in this moment. ~brandi I am thankful for the gift of family who taught me traditions that focuses on community, on connecting and sharing with people, with animals and nature. Because of this I can hear and sense sounds and emotions beyond the audible and material world.~Lui we are tested everyday in our journey to offer gratitude and to understand, really understand acceptance. and it is work. we are not naturally like this i believe. and i have begun to learn these two things from a recent break up with a partner of two years where trust and love was given and then taken away. I am growing through the pain of loss embracing it, feeling this is good for there will a day to balance it with joy. ~Robert  I am grateful for my online friends who have brought so much richness and inspiration into my life and for a second chance to love someone I lost almost 40 years ago. ~Cheryl I’m grateful for my friendship with YOU ~Barbara I am grateful for you, dear Laura, always a tender resilient voice for hope and grace. Have a wonderful new year. ~Judy

  17. You have tied a prayer around the earth this morning, around my small heart. Its so beautiful. I hope it sings all year, behind us, before us. It overwhelms. Thank you.

    Happy New Year.

Read a tiny finding that eating baked/broiled fish three to four times a day seems to "grow" areas of the brain connected to memory and cognition. But who knows. :) Prayer might be "the fish" .

    xo stay warm

  18. Greetings,

I feel honored to have taken part in this years posting of 'What I am thankful for.' It is a beautiful tradition you have begun.

Reading the various posts, I can see a common thread but there was one line that made me stop and think. The person said they gave thanks to their parents for giving them life.

I thought it was a beautiful tribute.

Thank you for putting together our thoughts and sharing them with your readers.

Wishing you all the very best for the coming year,
