A small stone:
brass strikes brass
sustained resonance
a spark for dry kindling
hypnotic inner flame
________________________
gently now on the floor the vibration
stills
i watch
thoughts dance wildly no stillness in
here
flames rising and twisting
writhing resisting drawn into
orangegoldamberblackandblue
joy and suffering fiery tango
dies down into peaceful warmth
even ember glow contentment
at last until lost again in the trance
of thinking thinking thinking thinking
oh
forget remember
forget remember
forget return
sustaining one note forever
never intended in tending this hearth
for how else would we learn?

"joy and suffering fiery tango"
ReplyDeletethis is so perfect--expressing Life. Yes.
Blessings to you. Thank you.
very good.
ReplyDeletelife is not a lone sustained note, rather to me, augmented notes scattered on a lined page, forever changing.
your remain in my thoughts and prayers.
I love these words....joy and suffering fiery tango
ReplyDeletedies down into peaceful warmth............I have felt that before!
What a visual, intense, and deeply moving poem!!!
ReplyDeleteLaura, what a beautiful description of meditation. I tend to go immediately to that silent place whenever I hear a bell or a chime. Your poem made me want to go to my quiet place and just be there for a few moments.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your 'Small Stone' posts as much as you love writing them :o)
ReplyDeletewow your words took off there and began to blend together...glad you found that contentment there in the end...
ReplyDeleteHello my friend...I've been thinking about you more than usual as of late. A few nights ago when I was up during the night you came to my mind and were heavy on my heart the rest of the night. So I prayed...but you haven't left me since. Haven't been back to my blog in months...surprised I remembered the password. :)But I just had to cause I needed to visit you here. So here I am. A warmth wrapped itself around me as I entered your special place here.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize how much I've missed writing and connecting and reading what others have to say, until the moment I found myself on my blog and found my way here.
I spent the spring/summer preparing for my son's wedding and it took everything in me to do that and having all my children and grands here all at once...so precious my time with them but it drained me. Fall came and since then I have been fighting to get my life back...my pain has been with me like a vengance which has brought more court battles and dealing with a system that is not for people to get well or heal. Just when I thought I might start writing again the hashimoto's flared up again and so between the 2 of them I have stayed silent.
My little's are growing up so and are more content and settled as ever but when they are not in school they take up all of me.
I am so thankful for this moment to stop by and say hello. I hope you know that I have never forgotten you and how much your words have encouraged me even now in my silence.
Much love to you and yours my sweet friend. Some day I will be back. :) XXOO
magical flames and words to warm the heart and soul. Thanks Laura, good luck with the group.
