Shine the Divine:

Creativity IS a Spiritual Practice

When we see through our hearts, we recognize that every single one of us is infused with creativity. Divine Sparks are embedded in everyone and everything. It's up to us to be courageous, to look and listen deeply, to find the sparks, gather and release them back into the universe, transformed into something new. Join me as we wake up to the sacred-ordinary blessings waiting to greet us each and every day.

draw nearer toward your dawn

the ONE calls your name
 -lech lecha
go forth
draw nearer
toward your dawn

beyond the comforts
of habit
to darkened land
 -scapes languages and longings
strange
tongues you must
discern
through the myst
 -ery dream life history
predictions do not translate
in this place of
BEING
not knowing
falling into empty faith swallowed
 -just
as it rises to meet each soUle
right foot before the other
uncertain swaying stillness
your breath slices
fearful air
until
for the briefest moment
clarity
the ONE illumines
memory
“el h’aretz asher arekha
-the place that I will show you”
expanded vision opens wide
the vessel you were born
 -becoming
blessings flow
NOW knowing
you are here
have been (will be)
all along

alas
infinity is vast
soulAmnesia
swallows you whole into spacious faith
(again) + (again)=

the ONE calls your name
 -lechi lach
go forth
draw nearer
toward your dawn

This poem is recited as part of this week's Minucha B'Lev meditation podcast series if you would like to listen to it in context.

This week we read parshat Lech Lecha... "go forth" or "go to yourself"... depending on how one translates the phrase.

Genesis 12:1, 2 The Lord said to Avram, Go forth (lech lecha - to yourSelf) from your native land and from your father's house to the land that I will show you (el ha'aretz asher arekha).

...And you shall be a blessing.

- unlike Avram who will be-come Avraham, we forgetrememberforget that we are blessings in this world too...
soul seeing soul
loving one another
just as we are
just because
we're human
and it is possible
                 to remember
after forgetting
                 to remember
that we ARE
                 have been will always be
                                                          connected

  14. Hi Laura,

I'd read the summary for Lech lecha and Rabbi Levy's drash on it--and had already forgotten it!! I/we need so many reminders and your poems today put me back onto the path of unknowing--that is letting go of what we think we "know" about something and allowing itself to reveal itself, its mystery in its own time and place:-)

  15. I do love your words and your spider webs. We have a gi-normous spider on our deck, who repairs her web each day. So determined, so crafty. We watch her at dusk with wonder.
