Happy Heart

Money might not grow on trees (though paper is processed from trees) and we all know money can't buy us love (or happiness) however, I have discovered that symbols of love and happiness DO grow on trees! In the process of slowing down and paying attention to the tiniest of details inside and out of the discrete container we refer to as "self" we begin to unfold, to open to the vast SELF that nurtures and sustains contentment (expanded happiness) and love, even in the midst of sorrow, struggle, pain, anger grief and loss.

contentment and love
are ever present growing
yes growing on trees

when words disappear
or merge with experience
i am grateful for the residue
the sweet lingering taste planted
in the fertile soil of my beating heart

I am not feeling words flow easily right now, certainly not poetically. To honor this "place" of being, I'll be posting images only for a while. Perhaps what I've seen and intend to share will hold deeper meaning for you than any words ever could. I will part with these words: I am astounded and awed daily by the miracle of life's renewal.

  1. Many of these buds look like fingers and reaching up to the heavens, aiming our eyes in that direction. A grasp can be a loving gesture...the tiny heart is apparent on that branch - a tiny ook of love in the Spring. Lovely thoughts in these captures!

  11. Love does grow on trees if anything not related to a tree can! Just we have to let our hearts be filled with love and it will overflow.

I re-read your sidebar about Ellie. I have been through this with our Adi (beagle dog). I now miss her so terribly much as she died last September 17. Adi was such a good dog. Her first seizure that we knew about was in 2008 while we were in an Omaha motel in the evening after celebrating the first day of BlogStock '08.

Adi lived five more years with her seizures towards the end coming quite often. Each one we thought she might not survive. Her arthritis compounded her problems as she was walking on two ledgs on the same side which means she falls down. Pills and a monthly shot took care of that.

Adi was a very good dog (link)

  18. Laura, I am so sorry to hear about Ellie. Of course we will keep your sweet pup in our prayers, and you as well. It takes a special person to love a dog the way you love and care for her. Blessings, Amy

  39. Ah, Laura--this little tree heart touches me.

I am forever and always amazed by the things I see in Nature. The Creator's finger touching this and that--creating beauty where I can capture it with my camera.

My heart is breaking and aching, too, sweet Friend. ((hugs))

  40. Hi I am new here and am happy to ready your words, meaningful indeed. And i agree with you that the daily miracle of life's renewal is really awesome and mystical. By the way, aren't those signs on trees at the first photo, made by man long ago, vandalism on trees earlier on?

  44. I bear witness to your feeling, when words are difficult and we may even feel 'stuck' in that situation, we only need look towards the cycles of life to see everything is flowing just as it should, speeding up in spring slowing down to the imperceptible in winter but still flowing, waiting......
    Beautiful images. x
