Small Treasures

We had never met before. From day one we exchanged small treasures; stones, leaves, catkins, flowers, placed in a hand or upon a zafu gently. (As afternoon light softened, sometimes on a windowsill)

Smiles broadened, as faces tilted upward, two eagles soaring high.

Cultivated in quietude, friendship took root, deep in the ground of being. Words on stilled lips cautiously slipped whispers, out on the garden path.

Shushed swiftly by our own-cupped palms, stifling giggles like young girls with sweet secrets that would just have to wait. We re-entered silent society.

  14. This brought back happy memories of a childhood friendship. And somehow made me think of "To Kill a Mockingbird" when Boo would leave little presents for Scout and her brother.

  24. Beautiful posts on your treasures...perhaps especially now your sweet dog. They're more than just critters, aren't they? They're little spirits in fur. I like what you said, about how love sometimes gets messy. I asked recently, "What is real love?" Perhaps that's one answer...real love sometimes isn't tidy, and it's worth every mishap and every effort to make a dear heart a little more comfortable, etc. Thank you for the update. Peace.
