Hakarat Hatov: Recognizing the Good #2

Peace is possible when we slow down
take the time to fully
see
feel
listen
are present
to each other
to all of creation
then the colors of
the world resonate
a harmonious song we
all hum along with: love love love
we recognize the good
gratitude arises
hakarat hatov
 peace flows
all of life

 I Heart Macro Week 25
through Wednesday evening.

For the remainder of the month of November, I will post a photo (or perhaps a few) each day of something that invited me to pause and lifted up gratitude, joy, perhaps a quiver of awe in my heart the moment I stopped to be present and really see. By reviewing the image/images to share with you, the experience is engraved deeper in my consciousness, strengthening a reserve of gratitude and goodness to savor and draw upon when gloomy weather outside echoes inside, or vice versa. For me this is a devotional photographic journey for developing the soul quality of Hakarat Hatov… recognizing the good, a Jewish spiritual practice for cultivating gratitude. I may add writing some days, I may not, I’ll trust my inner compass to guide me.

I look forward to receiving your simple word patches of thanks for this year's:

  9. slowing down…. that really is key. Thank you for your prayers for my daughter. She will be staying home one more day but tonight is much better. (she needs to slow down:) An infection anywhere in the throat or head can be dangerous. It is nice to have her home.

  10. A beautiful photo. And listening is so important - we're very good at talking and thinking about how to respond, but not so much at listening.

  17. Slowing down is so essential - and so hard to do in a world where more and more is demanded from us day after day, and we are given frequent reminders that if we won't do it, they'll repaceus with someone who will.
