In
college I studied textile design. I remember how one of our art
teachers taught us to squint in order to read the subtleties of varied hues
with more precision by allowing them to blend; a wonderful paradox. This
practice helped me tremendously in choosing yarns to design exquisite cloth inspired by
nature years ago. I understand this now as listening with my eyes, seeing with
my heart. It is a good instruction for interactions with people too. Soften
your gaze to read the varied hues of each person you meet with gentle
discernment by allowing their wholeness to swirl into the oneness you are, we
are, with all of everything there ever is-was-will be, each yarn essential to
forming the most inspiring cloth, part of nature, exquisite.
For the remainder of the month of November, I will post a photo (or perhaps a few) each day of something that invited me to pause and lifted up gratitude, joy, perhaps a quiver of awe in my heart the moment I stopped to be present and really see. By reviewing the image/images to share with you, the experience is engraved deeper in my consciousness, strengthening a reserve of gratitude and goodness to savor and draw upon when gloomy weather outside echoes inside, or vice versa. For me this is a devotional photographic journey for developing the soul quality of Hakarat Hatov… recognizing the good, a Jewish spiritual practice for cultivating gratitude. I may add writing some days, I may not, I’ll trust my inner compass to guide me.
I look forward to receiving your written patches of thanks for this year's
5th Annual
