…this shoe!

Admiring the sky on a late afternoon drive,

silhouettes line the road in the fading light.

Morning sun invites us for a walk in the woods.

I’m bundled in layers, she, her wooly coat.

Oh deer! We've had a visitor.

This calls for further investigation.

Searching high and low,

we know who wore this shoe!

Ironically, these photos are from Tuesday, we have close to another foot of snow on top of this now (Wednesday evening:-) Can you believe I found a hair, presumably from the tail of a deer clinging to the bark of a tree? I would not have seen it had the sun not been shining a the same height.

  3. We just got that same snow - about 8 inches here. My daughter's dog finds the same delight in all the smells on our property. When they first arrive for a visit, Mazulah has to make the rounds outside and "secure the perimeter" before she comes inside.

  6. A stunning selection of photos Laura, not sure which I would prefer all that snow you have or the excessive rain and flooding here in the UK and Europe. Thanks for your lovely comment about my heart stone. :)

  8. The photos are spectacular. Still, I'm glad I can look at photos without having the real thing outside my door. We've only had oh three or four tiny snow flakes and for us - that's winter.

I think part of the job of being a parent is finding the right outlet of the fearless freedom of childhood - but sunburn is not on my list of possible options!!

  46. How cool to find evidence of deer in your forest and the lighting is beautiful

  47. I have been noticing the trees outlined by the morning and night sky as well. Our dogs run around our front yard - smelling the deer from the night before. The deer come so close to our house during winter - nibble bushes, old plants. Oh, I'm so eager for spring as well!

  48. Lovely series of photos....great light and great colors. Hope you feel better. Spring is around the corner. cheers.
