I Heart Macro 55

Two separate stones aligned as I found them, form a heart. It is just two days before Shavuot; the holy day celebrating the giving and receiving of Torah as Moshe our teacher brought two stone tablets inscribed with God’s loving wisdom down the mountain to my ancestors long ago. The sun is shining. No thunder, no smoke, no fire, or trembling but for the wildflowers caught in a gentle breeze along this well worn path where I am walking.  I stand still for a few moments, listening to the world singing around me. Hearts in nature often find me so this is no surprise, yet the significance of two separate stones fitting together on this particular morning, two becoming one, felt bashert, meant to be.

one heart united

every cell receiving love

Shavuot, begins at sunset June 3rd, and it just so happens that the first full day of the festival continues into June 4th this year. This day also marks the 26th anniversary of the wedding of my bashert, (my soulmate) and me! A traditional metaphor for Shavuot is that it too is like a wedding, joining am Yisrael (the people Israel) and Hashem (God). Torah is our ketubbah (wedding contract), outlining our responsibilities as a people to God and God's responsibilities to us.

May we enter this sacred time as a people with hearts wide open, prepared to listen with all of our senses for whatever it is we need to receive, growing more fully into our most compassionate, kind, wise selves in order to connect and care for one another and this beautiful earth we are blessed to live upon.

And may love’s light shine through Gordon’s soul and mine, ever entwined, two, continuously becoming one.

I Heart Macro offerings!

Shine the Divine

Enjoy slowing down with your camera, paying full attention, observing beauty and curiosities many people pass right by. Your generosity of spirit and keen eyes may open the door to miniscule miracles and mirth others would not have access to otherwise. Feel free to include poetry, prose and thoughts your macro photo or series inspire(s) in you. Writing is completely optional for participation. Straight out of the camera (SOC), edited, color, black and white; anything goes as long as you bring the viewer near to whatever it is that drew your heart's attention and "woke you up" to full presence.

  6. You have a remarkable ability to see hearts everywhere, and to see wonder in the world, and open your heart to spiritual lessons that abound in the world. The stone heart makes me think of how we need a heart made of flesh instead of stone to discern spiritual things.

  25. Blessings upon you and Gordon; lovely photos from long ago. And the fitted stones are wisdom indeed. Not only is math sometimes mistaken, i.e., that 1 + 1 does not always equal *only* 2 … sometimes 1 + 1 can equal 1 as well. What I particularly enjoy about these two stones coming together in one heart is that that are fitted but also individuated.
