fashion forward graced
twigs dress up in winter lace
season of release
quietly prepared
since color riot’s long passed
for softer palette
in these quiet
woods
branches snap as
we pass
snagged on our
wooly coats and caps
this chilled but
thawing morning meander
twigs crack while melting
snow slooshes under feet
curious dog and
her companion splash through
water as bubbles rise
silently to the surface
reflective and still
moments before
one soft voice
utters
"find
Nefi"
faithful as always
she sniffs out
a grave marked by
a heart shaped stone
and together we stand exhaling white
breath
remembering our
feline friend and three others
buried nearby all
fragile bones cradled in earth
sheltered by guardian
trees and leaves
eyes tear from
cold and love
in these quiet woods
Chanukah begins this
Tuesday evening.
May all beings be blessed,
seeing divine light shining bright
in one another.

I Heart Macro
"Pure
awareness transcends thinking... It allows you to look at the world once again
with open eyes. And when you do so, a sense of wonder and quiet contentment
begins to reappear in your life."~Mark Williams and Danny Pennman, from Mindfulness An
Eight-Week Plan For Finding Peace In A Frantic World
It is time for YOU to share the love up-close with YOUR
I Heart Macro offerings!
Enjoy slowing down with your camera, paying full attention, observing beauty and curiosities many people pass right by. Your generosity of spirit and keen eyes may open the door to miniscule miracles and mirth others would not have access to otherwise. Feel free to include poetry, prose and thoughts your macro photo or series inspire(s) in you. Writing is completely optional for participation. Straight out of the camera (SOC), edited, color, black and white; anything goes as long as you bring the viewer near to whatever it is that drew your heart's attention and "woke you up" to full presence.

ReplyDeleteThe image of the leaves beneath the water's reflection is fantastic. It looks like your sweet dog is feeling better - what a sweet face! I like the heart burial marker for your cat. Nice to know you can go and "visit". It is one of the things I hate when we move - we leave the animals graves behind.
