I Heart Macro 84
Tired tender hearts wait
for nurses meds docs tests; time
here fluorescent lights
hum blue- rest? Impossible,
home is for healing.
Our eldest has been in hospital since Tuesday. Because of HIPPA, age of consent (she being nearly 21), I’ve been cautious to reveal anything on my blog for the past month since her diagnosis. Lets just say it is similar to her sister’s situation with some differences. We just found out this morning at rounds that as long as she keeps her breakfast down and does not have pain after eating we can finally go home this afternoon!
I’ll call to schedule outpatient testing for her Monday morning and hopefully that will be possible this coming week. We still don’t know exactly what was causing her to be sick enough to be hospitalized, although the doctors have some ideas The next test will give more information, so together we can all decide how to proceed with treatment from here. Clearly what we were doing for the past month was not enough. Never a dull moment for our family, that’s for sure!!
We are both looking forward to sleeping in our own beds tonight in our woodland home, free from city lights seeping through the mesh window shade covering our single window, nurses checking vitals through the night, attending to a beeping IV, or the startle of helicopters landing on the roof two building down. My heart skips a beat each time one lands, and I pray for whoever is arriving, that they too will be well cared for and go home healed, or that whatever organs being delivered will be life saving to the recipient.
Truly time is a vague concept in a hospital, other than sunrise and sunset there are no dependable markers aside from when meds are delivered, and even that is not always exactly according to they customary time segments that apply beyond these walls. Clocks are completely meaningless here.
It is strange to have been here this week on the very same floor where her sister and I stayed, six years ago. What an incredible journey our bodies, hearts, minds and souls have been on since that fearful winter. I have to say, while there is certainly concern, plenty of love and compassion; fear is not present this time around. Out of necessity we have become seasoned travelers in the land of chronic illness and healing.
Hooray… They discharged her at 4:30pm and we are now happily home at last!
On this solstice eve, as darkness begins to give way and light increases here in the northern hemisphere, I wish everyone joy in this season of love.
Welcome to Week Eighty-Four

"Pure awareness transcends thinking... It allows you to look at the world once again with open eyes. And when you do so, a sense of wonder and quiet contentment begins to reappear in your life."~Mark Williams and Danny Pennman, from Mindfulness An Eight-Week Plan For Finding Peace In A Frantic World
It is time for YOU to share the love up-close with YOUR
I Heart Macro offerings!
Enjoy slowing down with your camera, paying full attention, observing beauty and curiosities many people pass right by. Your generosity of spirit and keen eyes may open the door to miniscule miracles and mirth others would not have access to otherwise. Feel free to include poetry, prose and thoughts your macro photo or series inspire(s) in you. Writing is completely optional for participation. Straight out of the camera (SOC), edited, color, black and white; anything goes as long as you bring the viewer near to whatever it is that drew your heart's attention and "woke you up" to full presence.
