Our Ellie

We loved you.
We still do.
You are everywhere in this too quiet house-
                                                          and absent.

Thank you sweet girl for blessing us with your gentleness,
          unbridled joy,
                                silliness,
                                              companionship
                                                         and comfort.

Tomorrow it will be three weeks since we said goodbye and the first time we led you into the woods, where you had always run ahead before, turning yours to be sure I was following. One day I will again. May you rest peacefully beneath the earth, tall trees and expansive sky.

We miss you dear Ellie. We miss you.

  7. Oh Laura, I'm so sorry. I remember how you worked to heal your sweet girl and to make her days happy in spite of everything. You will miss her so much, but her happy spirit will stay with you.

It's been such a long time since I've seen a blogpost from you -- I don't know what or who led me here today, but it's good to be able to be here and send you virtual hugs and thanks for everything you did for Ellie and for all of us over the years. You do not give up.
