Gratitude Quilt

What is the Annual Mega Mobius Gratitude Quilt?
Second Annual Mega Mobius Gratitude Quilt

This project was born in November of 2009 when I had an MS exacerbation that made it difficult for me to communicate. I did not know at that time if proper syntax and words would return, but I wanted to write something for my Thanksgiving blog post, because I felt so deeply grateful for the goodness in my life, and was having a difficult time expressing that with clarity through my own words, even though the thoughts and feelings were clear.  I was concerned that I would not be able to write it myself, so I asked friends and family to be earth angels and help me out by sending me brief messages about what they were grateful for in the moment. I suggested they close their eyes, exhale, inhale, exhale again and without thinking, write from their hearts what ever words of gratitude flowed. Then I put all the words together to create a colorful, mindful, word quilt. In 2010 I invited friends to write guests posts on gratitude throughout the entire month of November, concluding with yet another gratitude quilt....hence it became an annual tradition. In 2011 the tradition changed a bit, instead of publishing the quilt in November it was posted on December 31st as a way to end the year with thankfulness and begin the NEW YEAR with open hearts.

Below are links to the first three quilts.

PS. I called this project Mega Mobius because it is a huge loop of gratitude that blankets the world with unending love. That exacerbation left me with an unusual form of Foreign Accent Syndrome...my accent changes "nationalities" randomly. Most of the time I do not struggle for words, or proper syntax, but occasionally this will still happen. I also have dysarthria periodically, which is a separate vocal issue that essentially makes it difficult to understand me because I lose control of my tongue and mouth, but this is separate from the FAS. Interestingly, when I sing my voice is my "normal" voice...different part of the brain...such a fascinating organ!!!
